The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC), along with city-based NGO Aram Foundation Charitable Trust today conducted a training programme for the mid-day meal staff in Government and Corporation school in the city.

According to Latha Sundaram, managing trustee of Aram Foundation, more than 350 members participated in the day-long refresher programme held at Siddhapudur Corporation School. The NGOs in-house councillor A.V.B. Madhavan also spoke. The participants demonstrated how to prepare four dishes from the South Indian cuisine.

“The speech emphasised on four aspects – importance of cleanliness while preparing the mid-day meals, how the meals can be prepared by the staff when they work as a team. The staff of the various departments were also educated on how to teach the children table manners and lastly a part of the talk was dedicated on self- motivation.” Madhavan shared.

Those who prepare mid-day meals in the school work within the four walls of the kitchen of the schools, Latha said.

“They are the unsung heroes and this kind of session definitely will motivate them to carry out their job better.

We thank our Corporation commissioner, Dr. K Vijay Karthikeyan for giving us the opportunity to interact with the group,” she added.

Her NGO in partnership with the CCMC has implemented several projects targeting children of Government and Corporation schools in our city.
