Residents seek patta for poramboke land

Thousands of people living in poramboke lands protested in front of District Collectorate alleging that patta was being distributed only to ruling party members.

More than 1500 people are residing in Nagarajapuram, a poramboke land in the outskirts of the city. A petition has been submitted requesting patta to these people. while patta has been given to three families, the residents claim that the officials visited the area and gave away pattas to some members belonging to the ruling party.

The agitated people gathered in front of the District Collectorate and protested. They complained that the officials are biased and were acting on vested interests.

The sudden protest created panic around District Collectorate. Police officials rushed to the spot and engaged in a dialogue with the protesters and dispersed.
