A brain dead retired teacher gave new lease of life to seven persons on Thursday.

N. Nachimuthu, the retired teacher and resident of Palani, met with an accident on September 4. He was given first aid at the Government Hospital there and shifted to Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital (KMCH) here.

“As he failed to respond to the treatment he was declared brain dead today and Nachimuthu’s daughter Indhu came forward to donate his organs,” a press release from the hospital said on Thursday.

His liver and a kidney were transplanted to the patients at KMCH and another kidney was sent to Ramakrishna Hospital in the city.

Nachimuthu’s eyes were sent to Aravind hospital, skin and bone to Ganga Hospital.
