Following the spate of murders and violent crimes in Chennai and other districts in Tamil Nadu, senior CPM leader G. Ramakrishnan today said that the party will be conducting protests to condemn the failure of law and order in the state.

Briefing media person in Coimbatore, Ramakrishnan said that the state government has miserably failed in maintaining law and order in Tamil Nadu. “Advocates are being murdered. Women are unsafe; houses are being looted. Is this law and order?” he questioned.

He further added that the court criticizing the Chennai police in the Swathi murder case was itself an indication of the state government’s poor governance.

Ramakrishnan also condemned the central government for not bringing down the prices of fuel, despite a global dip in the price of crude oil. “Crude oil is sold only at Rs. 30 per litre around the world. But, the price of fuel has not reduced in India,” he said.

He also alleged that employment rate has also come down after Narendra Modi government came into power.
