Coimbatore : In a move to put breastfeeding mothers at ease, a nursing facility was launched by Rotary Club of Coimbatore Downtown at the city railway station on Saturday.

The thoughtful facility was inaugurated by Divisional Railway Manager of Salem Division U. Subba Rao in the presence of governor of Rotary District 3201 A.V. Pathi on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, president of the club Mr. Krishnananda said the clubs were playing an active role in reaching out to larger sections of the society, ensuring the optimum reach of the government welfare schemes to the beneficiaries. By setting up the feeding room, which can accommodate four nursing mothers comfortably, he explained, the club aimed at marching ahead in initiating a series of welfare activities.

The club members stated that such arrangement will be provided in all the railway stations across Coimbatore district. In addition, the club also provided 20 dustbins for collecting biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste separately to the railway station. Through this donation, the club intensifies its focus on promoting a sense of cleanliness among people and subsequently, contribute to Swachh Bharat Mission.

Further, a total of 1,000 saplings were planted at Pattanam to control pollution and spread green cover in the city.

The event was attended by an army of the railway staff along with the club members including assistant governor of Rotary District 3201 C.G. Kumar.
