Unknown culprits have looted more than Rs.1.7 lakh worth properties from a house at Singanallur in Coimbatore.

According to sources, the victim, V. Sowmiya (50) was residing in Rani Garden at Civil Aerodrome Road at Singanallur with her family. She had left to her native district, along with her family, on 23.05.2016. On returning, she found that unknown culprits had gained access to her house and looted around 16.75 sovereign gold jewellery, and two laptops, all worth Rs.1,77,500.

A case has been registered with the Singanallur Police and they are investigating.

Meanwhile, in a case of chain snatching, two thieves, who were on two-wheelers, snatched six sovereign worth gold chain from a 49-year-old woman, and fled the spot. The victim, Shanthamani from Goldwins, was returning home when the incident took place at Kurunji Nagar in Goldwins.
