Coimbatore : The Election Flying Squad today seized Rs1.02 crore unaccounted cash from a car near Karamadai in the district during vehicle check.

Though the inmates claimed that the money was meant for depositing in an ATM, the officials seized the cash for want of valid documents, police said.

Similarly, Rs.17 lakh cash was seized from a vehicle in Ooty, which was reportedly following the convoy of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K Palanisamy, who was on election campaign in the Nilgiris parliamentary constituency.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the cash belonged to a private company in the area. However, investigations are on with regard to both the seizures, police said.
