Parents of Ruksana, who was found murdered and buried in Kallar, on the Coimbatore-Nilgiris district border two months ago, want the case to be handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

They made this appeal to District Collector TN Hariharan today. Suspecting the hands of more persons in the murder, the parents in their petition to the Collector said that despite complaints, police have not taken action to identify the culprits.

Prasanth, a software engineer in love with Ruksana, was arrested for the murder on October 16 based on his confession that he in a fit of anger slapped her, left a stone over her head and buried the body there itself. The parents said Prashanth, lodged in the Central Jail here, should be detained under Goondas Act, as there the possibility of the accused coming out on bail.

The girl had been reported missing from October 16 and the body was exhumed a week later.
