Parents of Saddam Hussein, the accused in the murder of Hindu Munnani Spokesperson Sasikumar claimed that their son is innocent and he has been arrested under false charges.

Talking to Covai Post, Asmat Nisha, 55 year old mother of Saddam Hussein said,”My son has no involvement in this case. The CBCID has arrested him on false charges.” She said that Saddam was not even in town when the murder happened. “He left two days before the murder happened, to Chennai in search of job”, she said.

Asmat said that Saddam was not arrested but he surrendered to the Police. “He couldn’t bear all these false accusations about him and stay away from family. So he surrendered to Police and was not arrested as they claim”, said Saddam’s mother. She said that they even filed a missing petition will the local Police station and Commissioner when they didn’t hear anything about him in the initial days.

When asked whether he was a muslim extremist, and whether he had any contacts with Mubarak, another accused in the case, “My son nor us have any contact with Mubarak nor the victim Sasikumar. He wasn’t such a person”, she said.
She also alleged that Abu Thahir a member of SDPI who was arrested earlier was forced to point fingers at Saddam and was promised Rs 5 lakh in cash and an SI job for his wife in return.

Saddam is the sole bread winner in the family. “His father is an auto driver but he is an asthma patient as well, so he used to work in lethe and spent the whole salary only for family”, she said. “He used to call me from STD booths. He was wandering in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai and had to sleep on streets all these days . He used to say that he has no involvement with this case.”, she said. She alleged that the Police has forced her son to accept charges.

Sasikumar, a Hindu Munnani spokesperson was murdered in September last year near Thudiyalur by a motorcycle gang. One of the alleged accused in the case, Saddam Hussein was arrested day before near Karumathampatti by SID, CBCID. He is currently under judicial custody for 15 days. Police are in the look out of Mubarak, another accused in the case.

However, CBCID Inspector Anand Arockiaraj denied all these allegations. “We, CBCID only arrested Saddam, he didn’t surrender. Also, there isn’t any need for the Department to force charges on somebody and torture them to accept it.”
