Chennai: AIADMK General Secretary V.K. Sasikala on Friday dismissed party Presidium Chairman E. Madhusudanan from the party post and its primary membership.
In a statement here, Sasikala said Madhusudanan acted in a manner violating party principles and brought disrepute to the AIADMK and hence being dismissed from the party post and primary membership. She urged party members not to have any truck with Madhusudanan.
The dismissal comes a day after Madhusudanan joined hands with acting Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam.
Panneerselvam on Tuesday night revolted against Sasikala saying she had forced him to resign as Chief Minister.
“As per party bylaw a person can become General Secretary of AIADMK only if he/she is a member for a five continuous years,” Madhusudanan told reporters today.
“Sasikala is not qualified to be the General Secretary as she has not been a member for five continuous years. A petition to the Election Commission will be sent in this regard,” he added.
“It was initially thought that Sasikala alone will be associated with party. But her family members are trying to take control of the party which cannot be permitted,” he said.
A former Minister, Madhusudanan is one of the long time members of AIADMK.
