A septuagenarian today sought the intervention of the City Police commissioner to get back his Rs 25,000 snatched by a person in his neighbourhood, some 10 days ago.

In a petition to the commissioner, Pandithevar of Athikottai near Chettipalayam, claimed that one Kannan, along with his friend, living near his house, snatched the money, which he had set aside for buying a cow, police said.

Despite repeated pleas Kannan did not return his money back, after which he had lodged a complaint with nearby police station. However, no action was taken by the police, he said, and appealed to the commissioner to look into the matter and get his money back.
