Coimbatore : DMK working president M K Stalin today chose to target District Superintendent of Police, Pa Murthy and accused him of assisting the ruling party and foisting false cases against DMK workers in the illegal gutka manufacturing unit to save a minister.

Moorthy would face stringent action for his act and when “DMK comes to power, which is not far, he has to face severe action for this (helping AIADMK)”, Stalin said in his address to the party workers in a protest against the arrest and seeking their release.

Police arrested seven DMK workers and are on the lookout for party Singanallur MLA, N Karthik, and two others on charges of obstructing police in carrying out their duty during the raid on illegal gutka manufacturing unit at Kannampalayam on April 27.

Murthy was working as SP in Pudukkottai from where Health Minister C Vijayabaskar, whose name figured in the scam, also hailed, he said. “Moorthy is supporting the Minister and attempting to put blame and fix DMK in the illegal unit case. There is enough proof with the party on the link between Murthy and Vijayabaskar,” Stalin added.

It was not very far for DMK to come to power and the Government would take action against the ministers involved in the scam and police officials, including DGP Rajendran and former DGP George and Murthy, Stalin said.

He also visited the seven arrested DMK functionaries in Central Jail.
