Founder of Puthiya Thamizhagam Katchi K. Krishnasamy has said that both the State and the Central Governments should give Rs. 1 crore to Kousalya whose husband was slain by a gang.

Briefing media persons after meeting Kousalya at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) here on Thursday, Krishnasamy said that the loss incurred is so high that it would not be enough even if each gave Rs. 1 crore.

“Kousalya should be given a government job and a member from Shankar’s family should also be given the same,” he added.

Further, he alleged that the State Government had remained a non-functioning government in each honour killing scenario despite the number being relatively high in the State. He also accused the State Government for being mum on this honour killing.

Claiming that Kousalya had accused her family members, including her parents and uncle, Krishnasamy stated that the Government should confiscate the properties of the family members for masterminding the gruesome attack on their own daughter.

“She is recovering and has shown interest in living with the family of her husband Shankar. She and the family should be given enough protection and security to ensure their safe living since the threats are many,” he claimed.

Calling for a new law to avert honour killing in the future, Krishnasamy said that his party would stage a demonstration in the sensitive Udumalpet area where the murder took place.

“We invite all party members, activists and general public to join the protest against honour killing on March 26,” he added.
