State Highways Minister inspects Rs.162 crore flyover project

Tamil Nadu Highways Minister, Edapadi K. Palanisamy today inspected and reviewed various ongoing flyover projects in and around the city.

The Government had sanctioned Rs.162 crore flyover project to ease traffic congestion in Gandhipuram, the heart of the city, and the works were going on a war footing, Palanisamy said.

Similarly, the Minister, along with State Municipal Administration Minister, S.P. Velumani,
also inspected Rs. 20 crore worth additional double road at Textool and asked the Highway
Department to expedite the works.

The Rs. 22.45 crore Rathinapuri-Sanganur Railway Over Bridge was also nearing
completion, he said.

Besides, the works for the Rs. 339 crore flyover connecting Ukkadam and Aathupalam
would commence soon, Palanisamy said.

The Department would soon begin the laying of 32.43 km long road, connecting
Sugumapuram near Madukkarai on Palakkad Main Road with Kuniyamuthur, Thondamuthur
Vadavalli and Narasimhapalayam on Mettupalayam Road, he said.

The District Collector in-charge Christraj, Corporation Commissioner, Dr. Vijay Karthikeyan,
AIADMK MLAs and senior officials were present during the inspection.
