Street dog bites children, villagers kill dog

Thanjavur: Three children were hospitalised after they were bitten by a street dog at Neyveli Thenpathi village near Thanjavur. Irate residents beat the dog to death.

Five-year-old Vasanth, son of Muthukrishnan, his two-year-old sister Dikshana and their four-year-old neighbour Chandru, were playing in front of their houses last evening when the dog bit them. Vasanth and his sister suffered wound on their back while Chandru sustained injury on his left cheek, right forearm and back.

They were rushed to Rajah Mirasdar Govenment Hospital in Thanjavur. Meanwhile, irate local residents beat the dog to death last night. Vasanth and his sister were discharged last night while Chandru is undergoing treatment.

Vaattathikottai police have registered a case.
