Along with their four-point charter of demands, teachers and Government employees under the banner of JACTO GEO, who are on sit-in on the district collectorate for the last seven days, on Thursday sought exemption from NEET to Tamil Nadu.

Majority of over 1,000 agitators were seen cooking and sleeping on the collectorate premises for the last two days. Some of the employees were found with begging bowls in their hands, applying ‘naaman’ on their chest and foreheads, symbolising their plight of begging to the Government.

Besides their demands for repealing of new pension scheme and Seventh Pay Commission implementation, the agitators raised slogans seeking NEET exemption for State students.

Amid the show cause notices under Section 17 (b) of the service rule and also threat of suspension, the office-bearers said they have come on the streets fully prepared and anticipating such extreme and punitive action.

Condemning the attitude of the Government for not coming forward to talk to the striking employees, they said that without any discussion the Ministers and MLAs have increased their salaries by Rs. 55,000, whereas employees are being neglected.

They also indirectly cautioned the Government about the coming local body polls.
