Relief from the burning heat is finally in sight for the people of Tamil Nadu, with rains lashing several parts of the state since Thursday night. The weather department has predicted more rains until Saturday.

The Friday weather report said that the rains were caused due to circulation of air in the upper atmosphere. The skies are likely to remain cloudy over Chennai and its nearby areas.

Kanyakumari district received about 3 centimetres of rain in the past 24 hours. The scorching weather however is likely to continue in the northern parts of the state with temperatures of up to 40 degree Celsius.
