Surplus budget presented ; bio- mining plant at Vellalore dump yard

Coimbatore : The Coimbatore City Corporation Commissioner, Shravan Kumar today presented a surplus budget of Rs.4.74 crore for the year 2019-20

While the total revenue for the year will be Rs 1,81,767.98 lakh, the expenditure is estimated at Rs.1,81,293.34 lakh.

In his address, Shravan Kumar said that an agreement has been signed with Germany-based GIZ for carrying out study on climate in Coimbatore, along with Bhubaneshwar and Pune.

On the highlights of the budget, a Rs.9.5 crore 3.6 MW solar power plant will be established, besides two 1MW solar power plants at Ukkadam in the first phase.

Stating that under the Smart City project, three lakes across the city have been taken up for cleaning, he said that Selva Chinthamani Lake will be taken up in the first phase at a cost of Rs.16 crore.

In addition, works in Narasapathy, Krishnampathy, Kumarasay and Selvampathy laks will be taken up and Rs.25 have been earmarked for the purpose.

Other projects include setting up of micro composting centres, with a total cost of over Rs.30 crore for 69 such centre, a bio-mining plant at Vellalore dump yard at a cost of Rs.24.21 crore, a Rs.five crore indoor stadium at G.V.Residency.
