Swami Satchidananda birthday celebrated

Competitions for school kids and medical camps were organized all over Coimbatore city to celebrate the 101st birthday of Sri Swami Satchidananda Maharaj. The theme for the competitions was world peace and inter-faith harmony.

About 1,500 children from nearly 50 schools took part in the essay writing (English and Tamil), elocution (English and Tamil), and drawing competitions that were organized at two venues – Chettipalayam, and the Integral Yoga Institute at RS Puram.

All participants received participation certificates and books written by Swami Satchidananda Maharaj. Cash prizes worth Rs.50,000 were given away to the winners, in the presence of Sri Swami Satchidananda Maharaj.

Also present throughout the function were special guests like K. Ramswami, Uma Devi, Chettipalayam Vice President S. Murgesan, and hundreds of devotees.

“The medical camps, that were scheduled to close at 2 pm, went on till the evening because of the increasing number of participants. We joined hands with Lotus Eye Hospital and MCV ENT Hospital and organized the eye camp and ENT camp. About 250 people benefited from the medical camps,” O.A. Balasubramaniam, Director, Integral Yoga Institute, said.
