Some of the biggest names in the Indian textile industry will meet on January 21 to discuss the ways and means to take the textile industry to achieve the ‘Make in India’ vision through collaborative approach. Union textile minister Santoshkumar Gangwar will be the chief guest at a function.
Indian Texpreneuers Federation Secretary Prabhu Dhamodharan said that the 127-year-old textile industry in Tamil Nadu is focussing on manufacturing excellence, diversifying new markets, highest quality standards and new product innovation. He added that the state contributes 60 percent to the total yarn exports of the country, with 47.5 percent of cotton spinning capacity and 30 percent of total cotton consumption in India.
Tamil Nadu also earns Rs.75,000 crores in foreign exchange and Rs.30,000 crores from value-added garments and home textile business each year.
