Three arrested for looting Rs. 3.70 lakh from TASMAC outlets

Police arrested three youths for looting Rs 3.70 lakh cash from three TASMAC outlets on Thursday night.

The trio entered the outlets at railway low bridge, Vilar Road and Head Post Office areas, looted Rs 3.70 lakh after attacking the salesmen – Sasikumar, Rajkumar and Balasundaram respectively, and sped away in their motorbike.

The gangsters were seen dropping liquor bottles on the road at Thombankudisai area at 10 p.m. much to the disturbance of other motorists. When the local residents and other motorists questioned, they reportedly attacked them. Irate public then nabbed two of them identified as K. Surya (21) and M. Tamilvanan (22), both hailing from Burma colony, Thanjavur, while their associate managed to flee.

Surya and Tamilvanan who were injured were admitted to Thanjavur medical college hospital. Based on the information provided by the duo, police arrested their accomplice G Selvam (24) of Burma Colony.
Police also recovered the stolen money from the three.
