The Deputy Speaker of Tamil Nadu Assembly, Pollachi V Jayaraman, inaugurated the three-day annual summer festival at Valparai today.
“Being a plantation area, Valparai is exporting tea, coffee, pepper and cardamon, thus contributing to the foreign exchange of the country,” Jayaraman said.
Describing Valparai as the heart of Kongu region, he said that the rains and dams were utilised for irrigating three nearby districts, thus helping the farmers.
There are many stalls at the festival for the benefit of the visitors, attraction being the flower and vegetable show organised by Horticulture department, Co-Optex and Health department.
