The Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, Justice S.K. Kaul, administered oath to three judges in the newly constructed auditorium today. The new Judges are Justice R.M.T. Teekaaraman, Justice N. Sathish Kumar and Justice N. Seshasayee.

With this, the strength of the High Court judges has gone up to 57, as against the sanctioned strength of 75.
Earlier, the warrant of appointment by the President was read out by the Chief Registrar.

The collegium had forwarded a 30-member list to the Supreme Court in September 2015. Of the 30, the Supreme Court collegium selected 24 names and forwarded the same to the Central government, that forwarded 15 names to the President for approval.

Following the Presidential approval, 15 members – six from the district bench and nine lawyers – became High Court judges on October 5 this year.

The Central Government then sent three names to the President for his approval.

Following the grant of approval, the three members were appointed judges.

Several judges of the High Court, senior advocates and Bar Council members attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Tamil Nadu Government pleader Muthukumarasamy offered his felicitations.
