Three more booked under Goondas Act for rioting

In addition to the five persons already booked under the Goondas Act, following the rioting in Coimbatore after the murder of Hindu Munnani functionary C Sasikumar, city police have booked three more persons under the Act here today.

According to the police, they have booked two 20-year-olds from Idayar Street, T Suresh alias Suresh Babu and M Vinith Kumar under the Act for breaking the windshield of two government buses in the Variety Hall Road police limit during the riots.

The duo who were arrested and lodged at the Vellore Prison were shifted to Pudukottai Hostel School.

They also booked A Mohammed Farooq, 30, from Bilal Estate in South Ukkadam for reportedly breaking the glass of a police jeep near Athupalam during the riots. Farooq, who is currently lodged at the Salem prison, has been shifted to the prisoners’ quarters in the same prison.
