Three wanted in murder case arrested in West Bengal

COIMBATORE: Three youths, wanted in connection with the murder of a woman on the city outskirts a week ago, were arrested at Jalpaiguri in West Bengal on Friday.

According to police, Ajay, Binto and Samrat were laying tiles in a newly constructed house of one Mayilsamy, where he was staying with his wife in Annur.

The neighbours noticed Mayilsamy lying unconscious in front of the house and his wife Rajamani with deep cut on her neck inside the house last Sunday.

Investigation with Mayilsamy revealed that the workers came to the house seeking drinking water in the night and suddenly, pierced an electric wire into his hand, leading him falling unconscious.

When Rajamani came out the trio hit her and strangled to death with a wooden piece and decamped with six sovereign of gold ornament worn by her and Rs. 1 lakh from an almirah, police said.

A special police team managed to trace the three with their mobile phone. The team reached Jalpaiguri, where all the three were arrested with the help of local police. The culprits are being brought to the city tomorrow, they said.
