Top tennis players to clash at ITF Open

Top Indian players, including No.1 ranked Ramkumar Ramanathan, VM Ranjeet, Vijay Sundar Prashanth, and Vishnu Vardhan will compete with each other at the LMW ITF Futures Men’s International Tennis Tournament, starting in Coimbatore, from September 5. this is the third time that Coimbatore is hosting the tournament.

The five-day event will also see participants from abroad, including countries like China, the Philippines, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Spain. The qualifying rounds will be held on September 5 and 6.

According to R. Manoj Kumar, Secretary, Pro Serve Tennis Academy, there will be 24 players in the Main Draw; the doubles finals will be played on September 11, and singles finals on the next day. International tennis umpire, Puneet Gupta will be the chief referee.

Jayakumar Ramadas, president of the Coimbatore District Tennis Association, said that the total cash prize for the winners is USD 10,000; the winner of the singles title will get USD 1,300 and runners-up will take home USD 900. The doubles winners will make USD 630, and the runners-up, USD 330. The winners and runners-up will win 18 and 10 ATP points, respectively.
