The Coimbatore city police will divert traffic on the Palakkad Main Road on Sunday to avert congestion in view of the Government sponsored job fair to be held here.

According to a release from the Coimbatore City Police, the buses plying between Ukkadam and Palakkad should reach the Palakkad main Road via Aathupalam, Kurichy, Sundarapuram, Madukkarai Market and Eachanari Bypass. Buses plying from Palakkad L&T Bypass to Ukkadam should go via Kovaipudur and reach Ukkadam.

Meanwhile, buses that carry graduates from Aathupalam to Sri Krishna Arts and Science College should drop them and park their vehicles near Sugunapuram SITCO.

The police have asked public who wish to use the Palakkad Road to go via Kulathupalayam, Sundakkamuthur, Rice Mill Road, Vasantham Nagar, and Kovaipudur. And, vehicles from Sundarapuram to Kovaipudur should go via Madukarai Market and Idayarpalayam Pirivu.

However, heavy duty vehicles should only use the L&T Bypass Road. The police have also stated that vehicles that come to the job fair premises without pass will not be allowed and have asked the drivers to display the respective passes on the vehicles.

The police have also set up seven exclusives bus stops from where buses will directly ply to the job fair venue. Buses will ply from PSG College of Arts and Science, Government Polytechnic College, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, ‘A’ Ground at Kovaipudur, R.S.L Industries Ground at Palakkad, Government College of Technology at Thadagam Road and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University on Marudamalai Road.

Meanwhile, the police have also diverted traffic on Saturday ahead of the ISKCON procession. While vehicles from Palakkad and Pollachi Road should use the Valankulam Rail over Bridge or Perur Bypass and vehicles from Avinashi Flyover and Lanka Corner subway should use Bazaar Street and Vincent Road.

However, buses can easily travel to Ukkadam and Town Hall but are restricted to use Vaisiyal Street or Oppanakara Street.

Vehicles from Avinashi Road to Thadagam and Mettupalayam Road should divert via Sukkuruvarpet, Gandhipark and Flower Market. Vehicles from Thadagam Road should reach Palakkad Road and Pollachi Road via Ponniyarajapuram, Sokkampudhur, Ramamurthy Road and Perur Bypass road and vice versa.
