Two cases of suicide reported

In a peculiar incident, a 34-year old man who quarreled with his wife as she asked him not to drink on Good Friday, committed suicide by hanging at his residence at Sukiravarpet in Coimbatore on Friday.

According to police, Mariyadoss Vijay residing at Chinna Ellai Lane in Sukiravarpet, Coimbatore, was reportedly an alcoholic and often quarreled with his wife. On Friday, his wife M.Thulasi (27) had reportedly asked him not to consume liquor as it was Good Friday. A quarrel had risen between the two over the issue and frustrated with this, Mariyadoss committed suicide at his residence by hanging himself.

In another case of suicide, a 32-year old painter residing at Perur Chettipalayam in Coimbatore hung himself after his wife left to her parent’s house as he came to house drunk.

According to police, A.Muthalif was an alcoholic and often came home drunk. On Saturday, after a quarrel with him, his wife M.Rahamth Nisha (26) had left to her parent’s house. This frustrated Muthalif who took the extreme decision of ending his life by hanging himself at his residence.

Separate cases have been registered with the Coimbatore district police and they are investigating the cases.
