Unexpected showers lashed several parts of Coimbatore city and surrounding areas bringing much needed relief to the people.

The rain that started around 1p.m. lashed several areas including Gandhipuram, Sitra, Kuniyamuthur, Sarkar Samakulam, Singanallur and Townhall.

According to S. Panneerselvam, Head and Professor of Agro Climate Research Centre (AGRC) at the Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU), the district can expect 10-25 mm rain in the next two days. “There will be rains in a few areas tomorrow and again after four days,” he said.

“The North-East monsoon will get intense only after October 28 and we will receive around 343 mm rain between October and December,” he added.
