Urban transport development: Officials hold discussions

Corporation officials today held preliminary discussions on urban transport development under Smart City project, based on the agreement between the State Government and German Society for International Corporation (GIZ).
The meeting chaired by Special Secretary, Municipal Administration and Water supply department, Government of Tamil Nadu, R. Jaya, discussed about widening of roads, in view of the increasing vehicular traffic day by day.
Parking management system, pollution – noise and air, and steps to reduce the increasing number of road accidents, creating facility for pedestrians and cycle track also came up for discussion, official sources said.
Jaya asked the officials to prepare a draft plan for the project.
