Tea estate workers from Valparai, along with Bharatiya Janatha Party State General Secretary Vanathi Srinivasan met Post Master General here on Tuesday and requested to facilitate salary accounts for the workers in Post Offices in Valparai.

In a statement Vanathi Srinivasan said during her recent visit to Valparai, she came to know about the difficulty of workers in getting their wages through bank accounts and ATMs.

“The wages of estate workers are being remitted through digital payment. There are only a few ATMs in Valparai town and people in remote estate regions are facing hardhships to access these ATMs. Postal infrastructure in very good in Valparai and surrounding areas. It will be convenient for the workers if the department enables salary remittance through post office,” Vanathi said in a statement.
