Directorate of Vigilance And Anti-Corruption (DVAC) sleuths laid a trap and arrested Village Administrative Officer K Padmarajan (36) and his assistant N Kannan of Rettaiyalam village near Tiruchy for demanding bribe from farmers in the village.

Based on a complaint from the famers of the village that the VAO and his assistant were demanding bribes to issue certificates to farmers to enable them to claim crop insurance, the DVAC sleuths laid a trap and caught the officials red-handed when they took the money.

The arrested duo was produced in court and remanded in custody.
