Wanted suspect in Kodanadu case arrested

A wanted accused in the murder of a security guard and break-in in a bungalow, belonged to late Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa in Kodanadu in the Nilgiris district, was arrested from Thrissur in nearby Kerala, in the early hours today.

The investigating agency has named 11 persons as suspects in the murder of Om Bahadur and loot of valuables after breaking a room in the bungalow on April 24.

While the key suspect and former driver of Jayalalithaa, Kanagaraj was killed in an accident near Salem and another suspect, Sayan is undergoing treatment in the Government Hospital here, as he had met with accident, leaving his wife and daughter dead on April 28.

Police have already arrested eight persons in connection with the case, most of them hailing from Thrissur and Malappuram districts in Kerala.

On a tip off from Sayan, who was recently interrogated by Nilgiris SP, Murali Rambha, a special Kerala police team taken Bijin Kutti into custody from Thrissur in the early hours of today.

He is said to be expert in breaking locks and locked doors, police said.

Kutty was taken to the Kothagiri Police station and the place of occurance in Kodanadu.

Later, Kutty was taken to Government hospital for medical examination and produced before Kothagiri Judicial Magistrate, Sridhar in his house late in the evening, who remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days.
