In a straight-from-the-movie incident, a 40-year-old woman today murdered her former servant in full public view, to avenge the death of her husband some 18 months ago, in Periyanaickenpalayam, near Coimbatore.

Sugandhamani’s husband Rangasami (45) was killed with a boulder by their servant Ravi Kumar (50) in a drunken brawl a year and half ago, at their home in Kalipalayam.

Ravi Kumar was lodged in the Central Jail, Coimbatore, and was out on bail a few days ago. He went to Sugandhamani’s house last night and threatened her at knife point of dire consequences.

At around 8.00 AM today, Sugandhamani was waiting for a bus at the Kalipalayam bus stop, when noticed Ravi Kumar walking on the road. In a fit of rage, she suddenly pounced on him and repeatedly hit him with a big stone lying nearby, very much like the way her husband was killed. Ravi Kumar died on the spot, in full public view.

Even as the terrified pubic ran helter-skelter, Sugandhamani got into the bus and left, as if nothing had happened, and informed about the incident at the Periyanaickenpalayam police station.

Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body that was lying on the roadside, and sent it for
post mortem. Sugandhamani was taken into custody, and further investigations are on.
