Wife dies of burn injuries

A 30-year-old woman died of burn injuries sustained in a fire accident, while her husband, who attempted to save her, is continuing to be treated for serious injuries.
The couple, who has two daughters and a son, lives on Variety Hall Road in the Marakkadai area.
The accident happened when wife Haji Rafi was burning bedbugs, when her dress caught fire. Her husband Mohammed Bilal, who is a labourer, rushed into the house on hearing her screams, and was greviously injured while attempting to save her.
Neighbours admitted the couple to hospital, but Rafi succumbed to her injuries.
