Wild boar rescued from cable pit

A wild boar, which fell into a six-and-a-half foot deep pit that was dug up for laying telephone cable, was rescued in an operation that lasted for nearly five hours.

The boar fell into the pit near Hindustan Photo Films at around 5.30 AM. Passersby noticed the animal struggling to come out of the pit that was dug up along 1.5 KMs for laying telephone cable for a private firm.

The forest department officials, with the assistance of public, got down to the pit and attempted to catch the boar, but the frightened animal kept running away. Traffic was brought to a halt to prevent accidents in case the boar manages to escape and run into the road.

Finally, the public filled the pit on one side with soil and brought the boar up by tying rope and lifting it bodily.
