Wildlife Week: Forest dept. to conduct competitions for students

The Coimbatore Forest Division of the Tamil Nadu Forest Department will conduct various competitions for the students in the city as part of ‘Wildlife Week’ celebrations.

The Forest Department celebrates Wildlife Week during the fist week of October every year. Elocution, drawing and quiz competitions will be conducted for students under various categories based on the theme ‘People’s Participation in Wildlife Conservation’, said a press release.

The competitions will be conducted in six different categories – KG level to Grade 1; Grade 2 to 5; Grade 6 to 8, Grade 9 to 12, college level and students with special needs.

According to District Forest Officer (Coimbatore Division), N. Suresh, the department will sponsor the students, who secure first position, for the State level competition. He urged the educational institutions in the district to encourage the students to participate in the competitions.

The competitions will be conducted at Tamil Nadu Forest Academy on September 24. For more details, contact district forest office : 0422-2456911.
