Woman dies in elephant attack

A 50-year-old woman was killed by a wild elephant near Alandurai area this morning. The deceased, Saradha, was a labourer at the Ponnusamy Gounder Estate at Pattiyar Kovilpathy. It was only a week before that she and her family members had come for Tiruchi district for work.

Police said Saradha had stepped out of her house around 6.45 am when the elephant moving around the vicinity attacked her. She died instantaneously.
