Woman found dead in house

A 22-year old woman was found dead inside her house near Sangampalayam in Pollachi under mysterious circumstances here on Monday.
According to police, the deceased M. Shanthi (22), is a widow of Manikandan. She had reportedly fallen in love with Manikandan and got married with their parents’ permission. However, Manikandan, who was running a two wheeler mechanic workshop, had committed suicide in April due to family issues.
On the day of the incident, Priya, sister of the deceased, had come to visit her sister but found her lying dead inside the house covered with a blanket. She had also reportedly found liquor bottles outside the house and a few cigarette butts inside the house.
The body was found with injuries around the backside of the head. The Pollachi police have also found a big stone and cooker lid from the house and have sent it for forensic tests.
A police official said that the deceased might have been murdered with the cooker lid.
