Woman relieved of chain

A farmer’s wife was relieved of her chain, weighing five-and-a-half sovereigns, last night by an unidentified person near Budalur in Thanjavur district.
According to police, the farmer, Karunanidhi, his wife Akila and mother Pushparani were sleeping in their house keeping the door open. An unidentified person entered the house and snatched Akila’s chain and escaped.
Based on a complaint from Akila, Budalur police have registered a case and are investigating.
