About 100 activists of the Women India Movement (WIM) today staged a demonstration in the city seeking immediate exemption of NEET for Tamil Nadu for ‘upholding social justice’.

Raising slogans against the Centre and Tamil Nadu Governments for creating last-minute confusion among students and leading to the suicide of a girl student from Ariyalur, the women’s wing of SDPI wanted the State Government to take steps to get exemption for Tamil Nadu students.

WIM president Farida Begum, who led the agitation, said the Central and State governments were neglecting the interests of students from rural areas.
