Youth attempts suicide in VOC Grounds

A 25-year-old youth on Friday attempted to hang himself at the VOC Park Grounds here.
According to Police, the youth was identified as N. Naveen, whose parents were farmers. Drought had reportedly hit their family forcing them to sell their 12 bulls.
Naveen, who was participating in the protest against the ban on Jallikattu, climbed a tree, unexpectedly tied a noose around his neck. Other protesters who were present there lifted him so that the noose loosened.
A few volunteers immediately climbed the tree and cut the rope. The youth was immediately attended by a medical team that was present in the makeshift camp in the venue. Later he was shifted to a private hospital.
