Cop attached to narcotics cell arrested for rape

Kottayam: A cop attached to the narcotics cell was arrested for allegedly raping a teenager.
The special team investigating the case arrested Nelson Thomas from Bengaluru. He was brought to Allappuzha yesterday night and was questioned in connection with the case.
The matter came to light after people grew suspicious over the victim regularly visiting one of her relative’s house.
They informed the police who detained Athira and she named Nelson’s involvement in the case. Nelson was under suspension after he went missing soon after the case surfaced a few days back.
The police is probing if more people are involved in the case. According to police Athira was exploiting the victim’s poverty.
