Senior CPI(M) leader Anathalavattom Anandan on Saturday lashed out at the CPI saying that it (CPI) cannot do anything single-handedly without his party’s support.

“It is difficult to say which coalition the CPI will join in the next Parliament elections. The CPI cannot do anything single-handedly. But they are acting like champions. They are trying to weaken the Government and to portray it in a bad light,” Anandan said.

The CPI(M) leader’s comments come at a time when words have been flying thick and fast between the two Left parties over the Thomas Chandy issue. The CPI members had abstained from the Cabinet meeting over the same issue last week.

“The CPI’s allegation was that the solar agitation was an adjustment agitation. But CPI had nothing to say when the solar commission report came out,” he said.

Posters demanding the expulsion of CPI from LDF have appeared in Thiruvananthapuram, Peroorkada and Vattiyoorkavu. The posters accused the CPI of insulting the LDF and Chief Minister Pinnarayi Vijayan Cabinet.
