Infant bought illegally from TN for adoption rescued

Kochi: A three-month-old girl baby allegedly bought by a Thiruvananthapuram native from Tamil Nadu was rescued by Childline. The infant was bought by an agent violating the prevailing child adoption laws, official sources said.

Police suspect an illegal child adoption mafia operating between the two states. It was not known how much money was paid to buy the child. The buyer had violated at least three norms, police said.
