Kochi: Contrary to Kerala Finance Minister’s criticism of GST, Chief Minister’ economic advisor Geetha Gopinath has hailed the new tax.

GST is good and its results would start coming in slowly, she told a tv channel in Thiruvananthapuram. It would take about six more months for the GST to show its true colors, she said.

However, she said the way it was introduced had caused all problems. Kerala appears to be not opposing it, she said, adding that the government should prepare a budget that could withstand the impact of GST.

At same time she warned the state government against engaging in extravagance despite to poor financial condition. She said that the financial crunch would reflect in the budget.

The government would have to take harsh decisions to cut down its expenses, she said.
