Modi visits Poonthura, assures all help

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said all efforts would be taken to provide assistance to the fishermen community.

Addressing the fishing community at St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Poonthura, the coastal hamlet ravaged by cyclone Ockhi, the Prime Minister said the Centre would provide all assistance to those affected. “The entire nation is with you, grieving with you,” Modi said and added that all efforts would be taken to trace the missing fishermen before Christmas.

“The Government will provide maximum support to the affected families,” he said. The Prime Minister said he would discuss all their problems with the Chief Minister.

Union Minister Alfons Kannanthanam, Governor P. Sadasivam, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, MLAs O. Rajagopal, V.S. Sivakumar accompanied the Prime Minister.
