Kochi: A pregnant woman had a providential escape after she managed to reach hospital enduring road block caused by the meeting on the concluding day of the CPM Ernakulam district conference.It was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Marine Drive last night.

The entire port city came to a standstill due to processions and inflow of buses and other vehicles ferrying party cadre from across the district.

The police made a timely intervention and helped the woman with the assistance of party volunteers.

The vehicle moved at snail speed to reach the hospital in 30 minutes against the normal time of five minutes.

The traffic in the city is heavy on normal days. The conference made things worse.
