Former Kerala Transport Minister Thomas Chandy has filed a complaint with the Chief Justice of India against Justice Devan Ramachandran of the Kerala High Court for ‘criticising him severely in order to make him resign from the post’.

Justice Ramachandran considered the backwaters encroachment case against Chandy.

According to the former Minister, Justice Ramachandran, who was an advocate, had appeared for Mathoor Devasom in the case filed by his (Thomas Chandy’s) relatives against the Devasom in 2010. Chandy’s kin had given five cases against the Devasom.

The remarks made by the judges including Justice Ramachandran on the encroachment issue led to the resignation of Chandy. A bench, comprising Justice Ramachandran and Justice Raveendran, rejected Chandy’s plea against Alappuzha Collector’s report in connection with the encroachment issue.

The bench also observed that the petition filed by the former Minister against the Collector’s report on the land encroachment issue was unconstitutional.
