Days after bullets and other explosive materials – stored in gunny bags near the Kuttipuram railway over bridge in Malapuram – were recovered, police on Friday intensified their search operations. Only a few days ago, five anti-personnel mines were seized near the spot.

More than 400 bullets of 7.62 mm calibre, six pulse generators, two tube launchers and some empty cases were found in the bags, from where the mines were recovered. “These bullets are similar to the ones used by the Indian Army,” a senior police official said.

The explosives were later taken to Malabar special police camp for examination.

Police would take the Army’s help to get more information and details about the nature of the explosives.

(Five anti-personnel mines, two metal parts and six gunny bags were found scattered under the bridge on the banks of the Bharatpuzha river on January 5).
